Privacy of personal and business information is an important principle at Capital G Consulting Inc. We are committed to collecting, using and disclosing information responsibly and only to the extent necessary for the delivery of the consulting services we provide. We strive to be open and transparent regarding how we handle the information we receive.
What is Personal Information? Whenever an individual's personal information comes into our possession we handle it in accordance with this privacy policy. Personal information is information that relates to: an individual's personal characteristics (e.g. gender, age, income, home address or telephone number, ethnic background, family status) and activities and views (e.g. religion, politics, opinions expressed by an individual, an opinion or evaluation of an individual). Personal information is different from an individual's business information (e.g. an individual's business address and telephone number) which is not protected by privacy legislation.
Protecting the Information We Receive We understand the importance of protecting all of the information we receive. For that reason, we have undertaken the following steps:
- Paper information either is under supervision or is secured in a locked or restricted area.
- Electronic hardware is either under supervision or secured in a locked or restricted area at all times and passwords are used on computers.
- Any paper information we must transmit is done so using sealed, addressed envelopes or boxes by reputable companies.
- Capital G Consulting staff are trained to collect, use and disclose personal or business information only as is necessary to fulfill their duties and in accordance with our privacy policy.
- External consultants and agencies with access to personal information must enter into privacy agreements with us.
Retention and Destruction of Information We need to retain information for a period of time to ensure that we can answer any questions you might have about the services we provide. However, we keep our client information only for as long as is required by the relevant regulatory bodies. We destroy paper files containing personal and business information by shredding. We destroy electronic information by deleting it and, when the hardware is discarded, we ensure that the hard drive is physically destroyed.
